The influence of forest on the occurrence of N-year flows in the basin
Doleželová, Hana ; Zemanová, Šárka (referee) ; Kozel, Tomáš (advisor)
The thesis deals with the influence of forest on n-year flows in the catchment near Staré Město pod Landštejnem. The aim of the thesis was to perform a schematization of the selected catchment and to determine the necessary parameters for the selected method, with the help of which the simulation of the rainfall-runoff process was carried out. The simulations were carried out on selected episodes during which the forest characteristics changed due to deforestation. Furthermore, simulations were performed in which the forest vegetation was changed to fields and meadows. Variants where RAIN-6H was used were also simulated. The model was built in the HEC-HMS program, in which the SCS Curve Number, SCS Unit Hydrograph and Muskingum methods were selected for the calculation. In the conclusion of the thesis, the model building and the course of the simulated episodes are summarized. Furthermore, the water retention capacity of the area of interest is evaluated.
Analysis of Landscape Deforestation Using Satellite Imagery
Javorka, Martin ; Španěl, Michal (referee) ; Beran, Vítězslav (advisor)
Today is important to protect forest resources and tracking deforestation is essential. Re- mote sensing has an important role in this monitoring effort. This thesis studies four different techniques for detecting deforestation from satellite imagery - using both optical and radar data. The specifics of Earth observation data and geospatial analyses are described. The analytical techniques are used for detecting deforestation in the study area of Chocske vrchy. Image segmentation with Unet neural network model is used to classify there all deforested patches.
Degradace lesů v Malajsii a její ekonomické a sociální dopady
Šebelová, Hana
The bachelor thesis deals with the topic of forest degradation in Malaysia and its economic and social impacts. It describes the causes and consequences of degradation and closely related deforestation, and deals with individual contents in more detail. In conclusion, economic and social impacts are presented and solutions are proposed for possible improvement of the situation in this country.
Vliv deforestace krajiny na využívání původních druhů rostlin v okrese Sen Monorom, Kambodža
Chalupová, Karolína
The bachelor thesis focuses on the extent of landscape deforestation in Cambodia and its impact on the use of native plant species in the Sen Monorom district. To solve this problem a literature search and field research were used. Field research shows monitoring of the occurence and ways of using the native species of the district. Last but not least, a questionnaire survey was used, which focuses mainly on the objective and subjective perception of deforestation. The results of the work show that the deforestation in Cambodia is still increasing. Many species have succumbed to the onslaught of illegal logging and excessive demand. If there is no change in the system and forestry, it’s possible that Cambodia will lose another part of its biodiversity.
Impacts of deforestation of west African mountains on biodiversity
Stříbrská, Eliška ; Hořák, David (advisor) ; Reif, Jiří (referee)
The high rate of deforestation is a global problem with negative impacts on species biodiversity and it also contributes to global and local climate changes. This problem is much more urgent in hotspots of biodiversity and endemism like west African mountains. Moreover, these locations are now recognized as the most fragmented and the most deforested mountains on the African continent. Impacts on local organisms is mostly negative. The organisms are facing habitat loss and the inability to migrate between the isolated regions. The bond between associated animals and plants, that are life depend on each other, is being broken and the whole ecosystem is being changed. In general, the ecosystem is less stable and all these changes make deforestation a chain reaction. Although there are some positive impacts on the biodiversity too, it does not influence the endemic species. It has more positive consequences for the generalist species occupying wide range of habitats and utilizing various food resources. Local communities are also facing the impacts of the ecosystem changes, their lives are negatively influenced by longer and more intensive periods of drought, landslides and they are not able to rely on the supply of the forest products. To be able to change current situation, financial support and...
Tropical rainforest: dynamics of development and human impact (material for learning of geography at the highschools and universities)
Bartošová, Martina ; Janský, Bohumír (advisor) ; Matějček, Tomáš (referee)
The submitted thesis deals with the tropical rainforests as one of the most threatened biomes of the world. The work is a comprehensive research sources to Czech and foreign literature dealing with characteristics of tropical rainforests. The main causes of the disappearance of tropical rainforests are described. Particular attention is devoted to Amazon forests. Conclusion of this work is devoted to the treatment of a worksheet.

Seasonal development, long-term changes and effect of extreme events on macrozoobenthos of acidified brooks in headwater catchments of Litavka, the Brdy Mountains
Beneš, Filip ; Tátosová, Jolana (advisor) ; Peltanová, Jana (referee)
This Master thesis was focused on seasonal development of macrozoobenthos for season 2009-2010, its long-term changes and effects of extreme events on acidified brooks in headwater catchments of the Litavka river in the Brdy Mountains (the Czech Republic). The extreme events are considered: drought, floods and deforestation. Changes in composition of macrozoobenthos were compared with the previous research, which was provided there for season 1999-2000. Headwater catchment of the Litavka river consist of two streams: strongly acidified Litavka-krmelec (LK) and slightly acidified Litavka-hlavní (LH), which is taken as a reference stream. Measured pH levels of LK were in range of 4,00-4,22 (with median 4,10) and concentration of reactive aluminium (R-Al) were in range of 1381-2187 µg.L-1 (with median 1692 µg.L-1 ). Measured pH levels of LH were in range of 4,74-6,22 (with median 5,62) and concentration of reactive aluminium (R-Al) were in range of 8-400 µg.L-1 (with median 33 µg.L-1 ). Concentrations of R-Al are observed due to toxic forms of Al3+ ions on aquatic organisms. The significant differences in composition of macrozoobenthos were also observed. On strongly acidified study site LK were not present acidosensitive groups, such as mayflies, molluscs and some species of caddisflies. All of these...

Protection and Economic Development of the Brazilian Amazon as an International Political Topic
Ilievová, Ester ; Němec, Jan (advisor) ; Paulenková, Kristína (referee)
This bachelor work deals with the problem of the Amazon rainforest and examines relations between protection of Amazonia and economic development in this region. The main goal is to analyze connections between economic development of the brazilian part of the Amazon basin and preservation of the environment in this area and to examine if the economic development is connected to the destruction of the Amazon rainforest and possibly to what extent, and if Amazonia has the chance to reach sustainable development and to save its unique environment for next generations, which is analyzed on the case study of the brazilian Amazon. This work also deals with engagement of chosen international players and their attitude to the issue of the Amazon rainforest. A serious problem of this region is the deforestation of the Amazon rainforest, which is very often connected to the economic development. However, the brazilian government managed to reduce considerably the deforestation rate in recent years. International cooperation and engagement of non-governmental organizations, apart from engagement of governments, is also very important. It has already provided many results, from which we can conclude a positive development in this issue.
